Massa's eye "undamaged" claims his personal physician

Felipe Massa's personal physician Dino Altmann claims the Brazilian driver's left eye is undamaged and that the Ferrari racer should experience no problems and make a full recovery.

"Today Felipe is improving continuously," Altmann told reporters, according to Reuters, "he is more alert than he was before. He's answering in three different languages in proper answers and he knows exactly what's right and left. His left eye has no problem, his eyesight is okay."

If true, this will come as fantastic news to the driver, his team and millions of race fans who feared that the eleven time GP winner's F1 career might be at an end.

However, Peter Bazso, medical director at the AEK hospital in Budapest where the Brazilian is being treated, insists that there is still a long way to go and that the Ferrari star is not entirely out of danger.

"I would like to point out that although he's recovering, this is not the end of the story," he told the M1 TV station, "he is still in a life-threatening condition. Of course, the danger is decreasing by the day."

"My expectation is that he would walk out of the hospital on his own," he added. "If his recovery continues at this pace, I wouldn't rule out that he could leave within 10 days."
