Rain expected for Monza weekend

NEWS STORY
11/09/2008

When one thinks of Italy, particularly Monza, which is on the outskirts of Milan, one thinks of bright sunshine... not to mention Vespas, beautiful women, Prosecco, the best dress policemen in the world, great food, crazy drivers and small yapping dogs.

However, when it rains at Monza, it truly rains. Furthermore, even once the sun breaks through and a dry line begins to appear on the track, the continued drops of rain that fall from the trees that overhang the track, especially from the second Lesmo down to Ascari, can continue to cause problems.

With free practice due to get underway tomorrow, the current forecast for the Italian GP is rain, and lots of it.

With Monza tending to produce somewhat processional races, albeit at very high speed, race fans might be in for a special treat this weekend, as the World Championship bids farewell to Europe, and controversy continues to rage over events in Spa.
