Valencia street race sold out

NEWS STORY
11/04/2008

Organizers of the European Grand Prix, due to take place on the streets of Valencia, have announced that they have already sold out the tickets to attend the inaugural event. Tickets went on sale on April 1st, and according to the organizers, "fans have responded massively", buying all seats - with prices ranging from 195 to 480 euros.

Tickets have been sold around the world, though Spanish fans will be largest group in the grandstands of the Valencia Street Circuit. Nearly 40% of seats have been sold abroad, where those showing more interest have been Italy, France, the UK and Germany. The remaining 60% have been sold in Spain.

Mr. Jorge Martínez Aspar, Chief Executive of Valmor Sports, said: "We knew that there was lots of expectation but frankly it never crossed my mind that we would sell out in 10 days. From now on we will have to reconsider the demand and give way to the different kinds of products that we have created, such as the Motor Box Experience that will take place in Feria Valencia, which is a great opportunity for the younger fans to enjoy Formula 1 in Valencia, with all the incentives and at a very competitive price."

In this respect the chief executive of Valmor Sports has reported that the company is studying the possibility of extending the grandstand capacity of the Valencia Street Circuit.

"It is a possibility," said Aspar. "It is necessary to study with a lot of thoroughness because the most important thing is to guarantee the comfort of the fans. Nevertheless, if the fans demand it and the different created products become sold out we will analyze how to have some spectators more."

Likewise, Mr. Jorge Martínez Aspar expressed his thanks for "the great logistic effort that the sale of tickets has meant for El Corte Ingles, Bancaja's Servientrada and the Circuit," that have channelled the direct sale and "have supported the avalanche of requests."

"The sale system has worked well and in coming years we will be able to polish the small mistakes that might have occurred" he stated.

The Valencia Street Circuit layout has been divided into four areas, according to the access to each one of them. Therefore, the Principal Area includes the Tinglado where the pits, the paddock and straight and home straight grandstands will be located, the Malvarrosa area corresponds to the North area and the grandstands before the bridge. The Nazaret area includes the South of the circuit, from the bridge exit up to the beginning of the Grao area, which includes the last four grandstands of the circuit.

All tickets of Valencia Street Circuit to attend the Formula 1 Grand Prix of Europe are valid for the three - on Friday for free practices, on Saturday for Qualifying practices and on Sunday, August 24, for the Grand Prix.
