McLaren Brazil GP appeal date set

26/10/2007

It is understood that the FIA's International Court of Appeal will hear McLaren's case against the Race Stewards decision at Interlagos on Thursday November 15.

The case relates to the Williams and BMW entries which were found to have "fuel irregularities" - whereby the temperature readings taken from their respective fuel rigs at pit stops during the season finale were found to be outside the permitted level.

However, unable to fully guarantee the accuracy readings, the Race Stewards opted to let the results stand, a move which McLaren subsequently appealed.

Should Williams and BMW's driver be excluded from the race, which seems highly unlikely, Lewis Hamilton would be promoted to fourth place in the final race result and thereby win the World Championship.

While McLaren has said that it had no choice but to appeal, Hamilton has said that he does not want to win the title by default.

Sadly, once again, the FIA - which continuously claims impartiality and lack of bias - has chosen to favour certain (favourable, non critical) media outlets rather than officially announcing the appeal date on its own website.
