Abu Dhabi track will exceed expectations

NEWS STORY
20/09/2007

Ahmad Hussain, deputy director general of Abu Dhabi's Tourism Authority, has said that the race track to be built on Yas Island, which will host its first Grand Prix in 2009, will be the perfect F1 track.

"We will not only meet expectations, but exceed them without a doubt," he said, according to the Associated Press.

"It's going to be the most thrilling circuit in the championship," added Ron Barrott, chief executive of the state-owned Aldar Property Development Company, which is building the track. "There will be authentic Arab flair everywhere that will leave the spectators in no doubt that they are in Abu Dhabi."

The $40bn project should be completed by the end of 2008, with the first of eight Abu Dhabi Grand Prix getting underway the following year, though an exact date for the maiden event has yet to be agreed.

In addition to the circuit, the complex will include a marina and seven luxury hotels. There will also be a Ferrari them park and the first ever Ferrari driving school.
