Bridgestone reveals tyre specifications

NEWS STORY
24/07/2007

Following the recent test at Spa Francorchamps, Bridgestone Motorsport has announced the compound choices of Potenza tyres for the final five rounds of the 2007 FIA Formula One World Championship.

The Italian, Belgian and Japanese Grands Prix will all use the medium and soft compound Bridgestone Potenzas. The Chinese Grand Prix will use the hard and medium compounds, whilst the season-ending Brazilian Grand Prix will use the soft and super soft compounds.

These choices are drawn from the four compounds of Bridgestone Potenza produced to cover the entire FIA Formula One season, all to the same construction. Bridgestone's wet Potenza is the same compound for all circuits, except Monte Carlo, and Bridgestone's extreme wet is the same compound for all circuits. The softer of the two specification Potenzas at each round is signified by a white line in the base of the second from inside groove.

Kees van de Grint, Bridgestone Motorsport Head of Track Engineering Operations: "The test at Spa provided the final pieces of information we needed before we could confirm our choices of Bridgestone Potenza compound for the remainder of the season. It was good to return to Spa as we enjoyed the beautiful countryside and the wonderful location of the circuit, which is shaped by nature rather than design. However, with Spa you must always be prepared for rain, and this test was no exception. We used the medium and soft compounds at this test and from the information we gained we are confident that these are the correct choices for the race. The Spa weather also meant we used the wet and extreme wet Bridgestones, and I wouldn't be surprised if these were also used over the Grand Prix weekend there."
