Please let it be a typo....

For many years, Jacques Villeneuve steadfastly refused to talk about his father, the legendary Gilles Villeneuve (right).

Though his name certainly helped open a few doors, it was also the perseverance of his mother Joanne who helped the youngster get his first step on the racing ladder, a ladder which would lead to success in CART and F1.

Any questions about his father, who is still revered by F1 fans around the world, was met either with a gruff "I don't talk about" or a look which said pretty much the same thing.

In the last couple of years however, Jacques attitude has changed and the 1997 World Champion is now far more willing to talk about the Ferrari legend, attending tribute events and even assisting in the making of a movie based on his father's brief but mercurial career.

On the Canadian's forthcoming debut album, Jacques along with sister Melanie has written a song in tribute to his father, the former Williams, BAR and Sauber driver describing it as "the only personal song on the album".

In an interview with Sarah Edworthy for the Daily Telegraph, Jacques talks about the album and the song, however it is to be hoped that when Jacques sheds light on the origins of the tribute song to his father, Sarah either transcribed it incorrectly or somewhere long the line someone made a basic silly mistake.

"I wrote six (songs), and another track was co-written with my sister Melanie," says Jacques. "That's a song about our dad, Gilles. She started to write it after his death in practice for the Dutch Grand Prix in 1982, and I finished it a few years ago."

Gilles was killed at Zolder on 8 May 1982, in practice for the Belgian Grand Prix.

A silly mistake, but to fans of the legend an almost unforgivable one.
