Barcelona improvements complete

NEWS STORY
24/01/2007

With testing about to resume, planned improvements to the Barcelona Circuit are complete.

As previously reported, a number of improvements were planned in the interests of both driver safety and spectator 'comfort'.

A new chicane (pictured) has been placed between Europcar and New Holland with the intention of dramatically reducing speeds as cars head into the final corner that leads on to the pit straight. Wurth has also been revised with the run-off area increased.

Two temporary bridges - erected for the Grand Prix - have been replaced by two permanent structures, while two of the public entrances have been improved with easier access and new toilets.

The paddock are has also been improved having been enlarged and re-surfaced.

Although there is testing at the Spanish track this week, with Honda and Red Bull launching their cars on Thursday and Friday (respectively), the first major test gets underway on February 12.
