Schumacher back in action

04/12/2006

While his former teammates, Felipe Massa and Rubens Barrichello, were contesting the Granja Viana 500, Michael Schumacher taking part in another Kart event back in his home town of Kerpen, on the track he first began to develop the skills that were to win him a record seven World Championship titles.

Schumacher was joined by Ferrari test driver Luca Badoer in a team of eight, in a 24-hour race at the German track.

Although his team could only finish twelfth (of eighteen), Schumacher later said that the event had been great fun. Schumacher's team boss was Peter Kaiser, a close friend of the former Ferrari star, and manager of a local Kart team.
