New Ferrari to run on Monday?

13/01/2006

Talking at Madonna di Campiglio, Ferrari boss, Jean Todt, revealed that Ferrari's 2006 challenger could make its track debut at Fiorano on Monday, with Michael Schumacher at the wheel. He also revealed that the car was 'started up' for the first time on Thursday.

"Today we started the car for the first time," said the Frenchman, "and at the beginning of next week, we are going to start, not with a black car but with a red car with no writing on it, we are going to use it for some private testing in Fiorano, something different to what we have done in the past and then we will do some tests for a few days with Michael in Fiorano.

"After that, we are going to do some tests in our workshops and then on the 24th, as previously announced, we are going to present the car at Mugello."

Asked if he could confirm when the car will make its track debut, Todt said: "We have decided that before presenting the car we don't want to waste any time, so we want to be ready for the race track and of course it's going to depend on the layout in the car in the workshop. But, as of this morning, it is possible that it will make its first laps."

When further pressed, as to whether Monday will be 'D-day', he added: "Yes, with Schumacher so as of this Monday."
