Marques at MF1?

09/12/2005

There is growing speculation that former F1 driver, Tarso Marques, could be returning to the Formula One cockpit, most likely with Midland.

A couple of weeks back, the Brazilian caused raised eyebrows when he proclaimed that he was heading back to F1, having previously contested 11 Grands Prix for Minardi back in 1996 and 1997.

Marques' claims weren't being taken too seriously, until it was revealed yesterday that Midland test driver, Nicky Pastorelli, looks set to lose his test drive role following the withdrawal of a sponsor.

According to Pitpass sources in Brazil, the 29-year-old is claiming that he is favourite for the Midland test role, but is in competition with three other pay drivers. Furthermore, Marques is claiming that a test role in 2006 will lead to a race seat in 2007.
