Minardi, what's in a name?

NEWS STORY
14/09/2005

Sadly, following the sale of the Italian team to Red Bull, the name 'Minardi' is almost certain to be missing from the grid next season, most likely replaced by 'Red Bull Junior Team', or whatever.

It's hard to believe, but in the last ten months, just ten months, deals have been done that will see four well known names disappear from the grid. We have lost Jaguar, and are now set to lose Sauber (BMW), Jordan (Midland F1) and now Minardi.

Much like Canute trying to hold back the tide, a group of fans are attempting to persuade the powers that be to retain the Minardi name.

They don't really stand a chance, but like Randal P. McMurphy, at least they can say they tried.

The petition to retain the Minardi name can be found here at ForzaMinardi.com
