BMW will supply Sauber in 2006

22/02/2005

Speaking to journalists at a pre-season press lunch, team boss Frank Williams has confirmed that his engine partner, BMW, will also supply Sauber with power-plants in 2006.

For some time there has been speculation that Sauber was to end its long partnership with Ferrari, but it is only in recent weeks that BMW has been linked with the Swiss outfit.

Williams was keen to point out that there is nothing 'sinister' about the deal and that he has been kept fully informed. He also insists that WilliamsF1 will be the German manufacturer's primary partner.

"I have got no problem with that," said the Englishman.

Although it is understood no deal has been signed, it is unlikely that Williams would have said anything unless it was absolutely certain that the deal will go ahead.

This of course ends any real hopes of BMW supplying Red Bull.
