In what could be construed as an example of 'sour grapes', former Toyota driver Cristiano da Matta has said that he has no interest in F1 and wouldn't return, even if he was offered Michael Schumacher's seat at Ferrari.

Since his departure from the Toyota team - though the Brazilian is employed by the Japanese outfit until the end of the year - da Matta has remained silent. Until now.

Talking to the Brazilian media the former CART Champion makes it clear that he has no desire to return to F1, and blames Toyota for failing to deliver.

"All I can say at this time, is that, for me, there is no interest in racing at F1 anymore," said the Brazilian, "none whatsoever. I'm no longer interested, even if I was in Michael Schumacher's seat, because I realise that there's no competition in F1, none at all.

"In actual fact, I knew it before I went there," he adds, "but I needed to find out for myself."

As for Toyota.

"If they thought that replacing me would mean better results, then fine, that's OK. However, I think the results of the last three races indicate that hasn't happened

"My first year was good," he admitted, "so I expected more in 2004. But it didn't happen. In fact, this year's car is worse than last year's."

The former CART Champion said he has nothing agreed for 2005, but is considering several options.
