Takuma Sato will be given a special award in Monza this weekend in recognition of his talent, and which places his name alongside many illustrious names from the history of Formula One racing.

The Confartigianato Motori Prize was established in 1983 and every year, on the occasion of the Italian Grand Prix in Monza, it is handed out according to the votes given by a panel of judges.

There are various categories of award and Takuma's is awarded annually to "the debutant driver who - thanks to his dedication - has stood out in the difficult world of motor races."

Previous winners of the best driver award include Michael Schumacher, Alain Prost, Mika Hakkinen, Rubens Barrichello, David Coulthard and many others.

Commenting on thes award, Takuma said "I am very happy to be given this award by such an important panel of judges. It is good to be recognized for such an important award".

Amongst the judging panel are former drivers Ivan Capelli and Gabriele Tarquini, Monza Circuit Director Enrico Ferrari, Paolo Montagna from the ACI Milano and many illustrious Italian journalists.

The award will be presented at a special ceremony on Friday 10.
