New chief executive for Australian GP

Mr Tim Bamford has been appointed Chief Executive Officer of the Australian Grand Prix Corporation.
Mr Bamford, 42, joined the AGPC in 1996 as its Engineering Manager, in 1998 he became Event Manager and in 2003 was named General Manager - Operations.

As CEO of the AGPC, Mr Bamford will be responsible for the organisation of the annual Foster’s Australian Formula One Grand Prix at Albert Park and the Cinzano Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix at Phillip Island.

Mr Mark Maskiell, 33, the AGPC’s General Manager – Finance and Administration, has been appointed Deputy CEO.

The appointments by the AGPC Board have been approved by the Minister for Tourism, Mr John Pandazopoulos.

The AGPC’s previous CEO, Mr Steven Wright, left the Corporation at the end of April to pursue private business interests.
