Scuderia Ferrari Marlboro

F2001s roughly similar to car used by Schumacher at Suzuka last year. Powered by type 050 V10s updated with bits from new 051. Revised front wing for this race.

1. Michael Schumacher

Sunday: Went off briefly at turn one in morning warm-up. Ran wet tyres only. Held fourth place when the safety car came out. Overtook Montoya when it went in again, so in third. Up to second when Trulli crashed. Led briefly when Coulthard went off, then overtaken by Montoya when pace car went in. Harried Montoya for five laps, overtook out of turn two to lead. Pitted on lap 38 in 10.5s. Only problem was getting heat into tyres early on. 1st

Saturday: Just fastest in morning session but slid off once towards the end of the session. Had another off-track moment in qualifying but eventually just 0.005s behind teammate Barrichello. Very quick in final sector. Yellow flag cost time, but so did red flag. Very happy with Bridgestone performance. 2nd/1m 25.848s

Friday: Pleased with performance and now more confident. Surprised at gap to other teams. Pleased with Bridgestones. Used intermediates when track was wet whereas teammate used wets. 1st/1m 27.276s

2. Rubens Barrichello

Sunday: Ran intermediates in warm-up. Defended position into first corner and didn't feel had braked early - felt braked late. Felt Ralf was going flat out. Hit from behind by Ralf. Retired

Saturday: Second to teammate in the morning, 0.154s behind, but quickest by 0.005s in qualifying for fourth pole in career, all rain-affected. Felt would have been faster if dry, but knew it was going to rain. Traffic on first run, but OK second. 1st/1m 25.843s

Friday: Aborted two quick laps and had a spin at the end of another. Used rain tyres in the wet. Happy with performance. Felt did a good job. 2nd/1m 27.799s

3. David Coulthard

Sunday: Has brief off in morning warm-up at turn one. Worked on handling balance with both wets and intermediates. Into lead at start and after safety car period, but then suffered gearbox downchange selection problem. Car put itself into neutral in penultimate corner on lap 11 and went off, rejoining fourth. Problem continued and dropped back to fifth on lap 25 and steadily back to retire with the car stuck in gear after 33 laps. Retired

Saturday: Put off circuit in qualifying by Villeneuve towards end of first lap with slight damage to front wing, so nose section change. Then got in one flying lap. Not too disappointed. 4th/1m 26.446s

Friday: Lost time during the dry spell with a damaged left rear wheel, which caused a speed sensor to stop working and did most of his lapping in the wet or with a heavy fuel load. 11th/1m 30.312s

4. Kimi Raikkonen

Sunday: Has brief off in morning warm-up, working on both type of tyre. Suffered badly at start and dropped to 11th, pitting for 48.1s on second lap for new nosecone and to have stones removed from cockpit after first lap excursion avoiding debris. Steadily rose up through the survivors to hold eighth on lap 8. Up to third after second safety car period. Battled with Raikkonen mid-race, pitted for 10.6s on lap 38. 3rd

Saturday: Felt didn't have enough time to make big effort, plus made mistake on quick lap. Could have gone quicker. 5th/1m 27.161s

Friday: Went off briefly onto the grass at turn one in first part of Friday practice. Had minor problems. 7th/1m 29.875s

5. Ralf Schumacher

Sunday: Ran intermediates in wet warm-up. Made superb start and slammed into the back of Barrichello when he braked. Slid into barrier but unhurt. Felt that Barrichello had moved twice. Retired

Saturday: Pleased with third but worried might miss ideal moment. But timing was good. 3rd/1m 26.279s

Friday: Brief grassy moment in first half hour of practice and another at the start of the second. Worked on chassis developments and had hoped to use more. Tested both wets and intermediates. Relatively problemfree. 3rd/1m 28.821s

6. Juan Pablo Montoya
