Video: On board with the Halo

NEWS STORY
22/02/2018

While team boss Toto Wolff was admitting that he would dearly like to take a chainsaw to the Halo device adorning his new car, Valtteri Bottas was putting said device through its paces as he completed a lap of the International circuit at Silverstone in the W09.

"We need to look after the drivers' safety," Wolff told the media and guests at today's launch, "but what we have implemented is aesthetically not appealing. We need to tackle that and come up with a solution that looks better."

Ugly from the outside, the onboard footage does little to convince that the Aeroscreen wouldn't have made a better alternative.

Anyway, judge for yourself.

"Looks like trouble for Eau Rouge. Even wet racing will suffer - another bit of information ahead that's blocked. "

"I would think that 2 supports, like the A pillars on all the cars we drive, would provide the same (or better) protection and let the driver actually SEE where he is going!"

"Another stupid idea, hey about driverless cars, no one gets hurt or radio controlled
cars the drivers stand in a line at the top of the grandstand."
