No further action on Raikkonen

Race Stewards in Melbourne have opted not to take any further action following Kimi Raikkonen's apparent unsafe release during today's Grand Prix.

The Finn, one of only three drivers not on a single-stop strategy, ground to a halt moments after his second stop, the team having experienced a problem fitting his left-rear wheel.

Given the all-clear, the Finn left the pits only to grind to a halt a few moments later, the team, realising its mistake, and apologising profusely, telling the 2007 world champion to stop his car immediately.

The stewards subsequently investigated to see if Raikkonen had been released in an unsafe condition, a breach of Article 23.12 (c) of the 2015 Sporting Regulations.

The team explained that the system used to monitor pit stops gave no indication that the car was in an unsafe condition when released and the team caused the driver to stop the car immediately the problem was apparent from both Raikkonen and the telemetry.

The team had paid close attention to the telemetry after the actions of the team members involved in the pit stop and further that the FIA Technical Delegate accepted the car was not in an unsafe condition when released the Stewards took no further action.
