Hamilton not stressed about new contract

World champion Lewis Hamilton insists he has no concerns despite being in the final year of his current contract.

Prior to wrapping up the title in Abu Dhabi last year, the Briton had suggested that once the season was over he would sit down with the team and his advisors and sort things out. However, just over a week before the launch of the car with which he will defend his title, the 30-year-old has yet to put pen to paper.

No problem, he insists.

"As soon as I left the last race I was at the factory for a couple of days, but I haven't sat down with the team," he told Sky Sports F1.

"We said last year we're not in a rush," he continued. "We're relaxed. The team have acknowledged they want to continue with me and vice versa, so there is no stress. I'm comfortable and confident and trust they're not speaking to anyone else, and they know that's the case with me."

With Mercedes looking likely to continue its dominance and Hamilton at the top of his game, his only other challenger this season, other than teammate Nico Rosberg, is himself.

"As an athlete I always want to be the best I can be," he said. "So anything less than what I did last year is not going to be good enough.

"But I can be better," he warned. "There are going to be twenty races this year, there were eight races that I didn't win (in 2014), so you can always get better. I plan to drive the way I drove last year, but hopefully with the knowledge and experience of last year and the growth, with turning thirty and everything.

"Whether it's an inch, a foot, a metre or a mile, I want to try and make sure I'm always moving forward."

"hamilton is just playing it cool . he is in the right seat for 2015 but 2016 ? he can just wait and see what the new season brings , and silly attempts from toto to pressure him won't have any effect
notice how hamilton responded to lauda's claims that he brought hamilton to the team ? lewis disclosed that the real reason was that ross brawn met him , sat in his mum's kitchen with his laptop and laid out the entire strategy for future success
and what thanks did brawn get from mercedes ? the sack and hardly a mention !
