No DTM for Kubica

20/02/2013

Mat Coch writes:

Robert Kubica will not make a racing return this season in German Touring cars.

The 28-year-old tested a Mercedes DTM car in late January ahead of what many believed would be a race deal for the 2013 season. However, the German manufacturer has instead opted for Dani Juncadella, last season's Formula 3 Euro Series winner, rather than the former Grand Prix winner.

Kubica won on his return to competition in a rally in September, prompting many to speculate that he could soon return to Formula One. However, in December he admitted that limitations with his arm currently prevent him returning to an F1 cockpit, but emphasised his desire to return to competition.

Ironically, the Pole has been linked with a move to rallying, despite having been out of serious competition since the 2011 pre-season rally crash which nearly claimed his life.
