A reprimand for Webber

17/11/2012

Mark Webber has been reprimanded for failing to stop for weighing after today's qualifying session while Michael Schumacher escaped sanction for an incident involving Fernando Alonso.

The German and the Spaniard were summoned by the stewards following an incident in Q2 when the Ferrari driver almost ran into the back of Schumacher's Mercedes, Alonso subsequently gesturing his anger towards the seven-time champion.

Having received a report from the Race Director, and having heard from both drivers, who advised that they were on their first (preparation) lap of a multi-lap stint, and were able to continue their respective laps and team representatives, and examined the video evidence, the stewards determined that no further action was required.

However, there was a reprimand for Webber who failed to proceed directly to the FIA garage for weighing when signalled to do so. His team upon realising the error brought the car back to the FIA garage immediately, but the Australian was still deemed to have breached Article 26 of the FIA Formula One Sporting Regulations.
