Hamilton in further Twitter silliness

08/10/2012

Just weeks after getting himself into hot water courtesy of Twitter, Lewis Hamilton appears to have caused himself problems on the social networking site yet again.

Earlier today, the Mercedes-bound McLaren driver tweeted: "Just noticed @jensonbutton unfollowed, thats a shame. After 3 years as teammates, I thought we respected one another but clearly he doesn't.

"Funny thing is, we are STILL (sic) teammates! All good tho, I plan on giving this team & fans all I got til I cross the finish line in brazil!!!"

However, the massages were soon deleted when Hamilron discovered that he had made a mistake.

"My bad, just found out Jenson never followed me. Don't blame him! Need to be on Twitter more," he wrote.

Over the weekend of the Belgian Grand Prix, Hamilton caused a stir when he posted a tweet lamenting his performance in comparison with Button. This was followed by another on race morning showing McLaren's telemetry revealing where Hamilton lost time in qualifying. Both Tweets were quickly removed, sparking suggestions the team had told its driver to delete the messages.

However speaking before the Grand Prix McLaren boss Martin Whitmarsh told Sky F1 that while it had asked the 2008 world champion to delete the team's telemetry from Twitter, Hamilton made the decision to delete his post-qualifying tweet.
