Grid penalty for di Resta

08/09/2012

Paul di Resta has incurred a five place grid penalty for the Italian Grand Prix after his team opted to change the gearbox in his car.

In the wake of a strong showing for teammate Nico Hulkenberg in last weekend's Belgian Grand Prix, di Resta was hoping for an equally good result here at Monza. However, working on the car overnight the team discovered an unspecified problem and opted to change his gearbox.

With the rules specifying that a gearbox must last for five consecutive races - providing that the driver finishes each of the events - this means the Scot, who finished tenth at Spa, will drop five places following this afternoon's qualifying session.
