Kubica to make racing return

07/09/2012

Mat Coch writes:

Injured Formula One driver Robert Kubica looks poised to make his return to competitive motor sport this weekend.

The Pole is reportedly set to take the wheel of a Subaru WRC car for the Ronde Gomitolo di Lana rally in Italy. However, although on the entry list it is understood Kubica's crew faces a race against time to finish the car before the rally begins tomorrow.

In March, Kubica, who was injured in a rally in the build-up to the 2011 season, enjoyed an outing in a Skoda Fabia rally car as part of his recovery process. The drive coming at a time when Jaime Alguersuari's was claiming that the Pole was unable to hold a glass to drink from, such is the lack of grip in his right hand.

Kubica's rally return has rekindled hopes that the popular 27-year-old could yet make a return to Formula One, if not for 2013 then potentially 2014.
