Sutil: I am really sorry

30/01/2012

As his trial gets underway in Munich, Adrian Sutil tells the court he made repeated efforts to apologise to Eric Lux following nightclub incident.

The German, who is charged with bodily harm, is alleged to have struck Lux, chief executive of Lotus F1 Team (formerly Lotus Renault GP) owners Genii Capital, in the neck with a glass.

"I did everything to try to settle this row," Sutil told the court. "I am really sorry, extremely sorry. I never wanted for this to happen."

However, Lux, also in court, wasn't impressed. "A phone call is not good enough," he said, adding that at the very least Sutil should have visited him in Luxembourg to apologise in person.

The trial is expected to continue tomorrow, when a verdict could be announced.
