Having secured the services of tyre guru Hirohide Hamashima, Ferrari has also recruited Mercedes GP's technical consultant, Steve Clark.

The Englishman, a graduate of York University, first entered F1 in 1988 as an electronics engineer with Team Lotus. He subsequently joined Ligier as race engineer, before moving on to Arrows, Sauber and McLaren, including spells with Chip Ganassi Racing and Pac West Racing in Indy Car.

In 2007 he joined Honda as head of race and test engineering, remaining with the Brackley outfit when it morphed into Brawn and then Mercedes.

Having previously worked with Ferrari technical director Pat Fry at McLaren, Clark will oversee Andrea Stella and Rob Smedley.
