Maldonado and Alguersuari penalised

13/11/2011

Pastor Maldonado and Jaime Alguersuari have both been penalised for ignoring blue flags during today's Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.

Having already been handed a drive-through for ignoring blue flags earlier in the race, Maldonado was the subject of a post race investigation after he and Alguersuari were clearly seen to get in the way of Felipe Massa and Mark Webber as they lapped the field.

Following the Stewards' investigation the Venezuelan was handed another drive-through, however, this was converted to an additional 30 seconds being added to his final race time. The Spaniard was also given a drive through but this was converted to a 20 second penalty.

Despite the time penalties, neither driver changes position, Maldonado finishing fourteenth and Alguersuari fifteenth.
