Trident Racing has announced an agreement with Adrian Zaugg for this weekend's GP2 Asia Series race at Bahrain.

The 23-year-old South African driver entered his last open-wheel race last summer, but he can rely on experience as he entered the series before, having debuted at Al Sakhir in 2007.

Zaugg and Trident Racing won't be able to test before getting on-track on race weekend, ad will have to get in touch progressively. The main goal is to do well from the beginning, and try to build up a chance to continue through 2010. Zaugg is set to partner Plamen Kralev. Like the last race at Abu Dhabi, action will kick-off on Thursday with Practice and Qualifying. Race 1 will be disputed on Saturday, while Race 2 will bring the weekend to a closure on Sunday.

The round at Bahrain will be the third out of the four GP2 Asia Series races of the season. The final round will also be held at Al Sakhir, as a supporting race for the Formula One Bahrain Grand Prix.

Adrian Zaugg: "The deal with Trident Racing represents a great opportunity to me, and also a positive signal to all my sponsors and supporters that enabled me to get this chance. It won't be easy to be back on an open-wheel car after several months and a GP2 car after 2 years, but I'm running with no pressure, and I'll be calm and ready to give the maximum at Al Sakhir. I'll have to find the right feeling back, straight out of the box, but I'm not a rookie so I'm quite confident. I trust the team, the technical staff, and I think we really have a chance to give a positive spin to the 2010 season. Physically, I'm sure I'll perform at the top since I never stopped my training program and I'm in good shape. I hope this weekend will convince who is supporting me to continue..."

It won't be easy for him to find the right moves and the right feeling in just 30 minutes of free practice at Bahrain, but I'm sure that Zaugg will prove his talent, the one that he expressed only partly during the recent years. I hope this will become the first step of a longer relationship, aimed to bring Adrian to enter the 2010 Main Series with Trident Racing."
