Team Ireland hail 'dashboard'

A1 Team Ireland's Mark Gallagher, David Kennedy and Teddy Yip were able to enjoy enhanced coverage of their team's successes in the most recent round of the A1GP World Cup of Motorsport in Taupo, New Zealand, thanks to the recently launched Dashboard facility which allows users to see real time data from each car competing in practice, qualifying and races.

The service allows users to watch a car's progress around the track, together with that of its competitors, and to see speed, g-force, throttle, braking, gears and number of Powerboosts available for a driver to use. In effect, when combined with A1GP's Live Timing facility, the user has the same information available as the driver or team.

"Since I was not travelling to New Zealand I used the Dashboard and Live Timing services to see how the Team Ireland car was performing and it added a fascinating dimension to following the team," said Team Principal Gallagher. "It means that you can see what's happening on your favourite car and those of its rivals, and when added to the TV coverage on race day it gives motorsport viewers an unparalleled experience. It shows once again A1GP's commitment to innovation in making the series truly inclusive and accessible to fans all over the world."

With Team Ireland currently leading the championship by 13 points from reigning Champions Team Switzerland, Gallagher is hoping that more Irish motorsport and sports fans will follow the team's performance over the remaining round of the series.

Irish fans are also being encouraged by the team to provide on-the-spot support for the team at the A1GP rounds scheduled for Park Algarve, Portugal, on April 12th and Brands Hatch, UK, on May 3rd. Tickets for the Park Algarve event, held on Easter Sunday, have now gone on sale.

"The Portuguese track is quite extraordinary; easily one of the most exciting new tracks in the world and we cannot wait to race there," said Gallagher.

"That race is an ideal one for Irish motorsport fans keen to enjoy watching us battle for the title, while Brands Hatch is the closest to home and always provides a terrific weekend. We can promise fans a friendly welcome at either event, and if you want to get close to Team Ireland the best way possible is to attend a race."
