An interesting press release

21/08/2008

Among the many press releases issued ahead of this weekend's European Grand Prix, one, in particular, caught our attention.

Hilton Sport Sponsorships has "proudly" announced that Bruno Senna has been confirmed as Hilton Racing's newest Brand Ambassador.

Hilton Racing, of course, is all part of Hilton Hotels, which sponsors McLaren.

Therefore, at a time when many are predicting that Senna - currently second in the GP2 title race - will be in F1 in 2009, could today's release possibly signal a test role at McLaren?

While McLaren has said that it will retain Heikki Kovalainen for 2009, there can be no doubt that in terms of marketing, the Senna name, alongside that of Lewis Hamilton, would create a veritable PR dream team in 2010.

In the eyes of many, rather than jumping in at the deep end, Senna needs a year of F1 testing before making the full plunge.
