Qantas continues with Australian GP

NEWS STORY
12/03/2007

Qantas has announced a new multi-million dollar sponsorship deal with the Australian Grand Prix Corporation (AGPC), which will see the airline extend its partnership with the flagship event until 2010.

"Qantas has been part of the Formula One experience for the past 11 years," said AGPC Chairman Ron Walker. "It recognises the value of global TV exposure as well as the vast number of people that visit Australia and Melbourne for the event. It's fitting that our national carrier supports one of the largest annual events in Australia."

This year sees Dutch banking group ING - which also sponsors the Renault F1 team - take over as title sponsor of the event, while previous title sponsor Foster's has retained the rights to be "official beer supplier". ING's sponsorship of the Grand Prix continues for two further seasons.

The new deal with Qantas allows the airline to continue as presenting partner of the Formula One Paddock Club Entrance Lounge, erect track signage, as well as providing the national carrier the right to sell ticketing and holiday packages to the event.
