The Honda F1 team has announced the signing of an agreement with British F3 champion Mike Conway.

22-year-old Conway (right), the reigning British F3 and Macau GP champion, will join Honda with immediate effect and will have the opportunity to drive the Honda RA107 Formula One car at a test session later in the year.

Conway dominated the British F3 season in 2006, ending the year as Champion with ten race wins. He capped an excellent year by taking victory at the prestigious Macau Grand Prix in November, to go alongside his previous championship success in Formula Renault in 2004. He will be making the step up to the GP2 series this year as he competes with the Super Nova team.

At the same time as competing in the GP2 series, Conway will have the opportunity to steadily integrate himself into the workings of a top Formula One team with Honda. As well as track time in the RA107 later in the year, he will enjoy a comprehensive programme of technical assistance and the same level of fitness and human performance coaching enjoyed by the team's race drivers Jenson Button and Rubens Barrichello.

Mike has clearly demonstrated his potential and talent throughout his career in the various junior formulae with a great deal of success. His results in the British F3 series last year were particularly impressive. Honda considers the development of emerging motorsport talent to be a key part of our strategy and we look forward to having Mike on board with us and assisting further with his development over the coming months."

I had a great season in 2006 but there is a lot of hard work ahead in the GP2 series this year."
