The Mi-Jack Conquest Racing Team completed a second two-day test at MSR Houston yesterday. Stephen Simpson was behind the wheel of the Conquest Lola for both days and for his first time in a Champ Car, the South African did an excellent job of relaying good information and keeping the car under control all while putting in competitive lap times.

Simpson, an A1GP driver and former Champ Car Atlantic competitor was impressed with the speed of the Champ Car but what surprised him the most was its amount of downforce. After his two days of testing, he described driving a Champ Car as fantastic and was happy with his performance.

"It was a very successful and instructive test for me and went better than I'd anticipated. I was able to acclimatize myself with a Champ Car including getting used to the brakes and downforce which were substantially in excess of anything I'd previously experienced and I ended up being able to run some fast laps that I was pretty satisfied with bearing in mind my experience," said Simpson. "I also really enjoyed working with my engineer Dave Faustino and with the Conquest Team as a whole and their professionalism and passion completed a thoroughly positive experience. It was a very useful test for me and I hope to be back in a Champ Car again next month."

Eric Bachelart, co-owner of the Mi-Jack Conquest Racing Team was on hand at the test and was more than pleased with what he saw.

"Stephen did an excellent job during his two-day test. His lap times were very competitive, he gave us good feedback and he was well under control the whole time. We definitely saw lots of potential in him. The engineering staff and the whole team gelled well with him, he was easy to work with and very professional. I hope we'll be able to work together again."
