During the recent A1 GP season finale at Shanghai, the assembled drivers, and thereby their Zytek engines, racked up a further 9,202 miles (14,723kms), this includes practice sessions, qualifying and the two races.

By season end, the engines had completed 103,857 miles (166,171kms), which included 1,182,762 gearshifts, but not one single failure.

In the early stages of the championship there were a few problems with batteries and pumps, but the Zytek ZA1348 continued running like clockwork.

In all, 58 of the Zytek power-plants saw action, with Team New Zealand completing the most mileage (8,139 miles).

84,208 litres of fuel were used, with the cars averaging 5.6 miles-per-gallon.

The 30 bhp powerboost button was used 3,084 times, delivering an extra 92,520 bhp.

Counting race weekends only, not tests, the Zytek power-plants ran for a total of 47 days 18 hours 40 minutes and 51.850 seconds.

While the total engine power delivery time - when the engines were running between 5,000- and 10,000 rpm at +75% throttle, was 22 days 21 hours 29 minutes and 44.370 seconds.

Now that's what you call reliability.
