Just one free practice session on Saturdays

05/01/2006

Along with the introduction of a new 'knock-out' qualifying system this season, the FIA has opted to slightly alter the Saturday format.

The 'traditional' two forty-five minute free practice sessions, which run from 9:00 - 9:45 and 10:15 - 11:00, are to be dropped in favour of one hour-long session, which will begin at 11:00.

The Friday free practice sessions, which will once again allow the use of third cars, by those teams eligible, will take place at the usual times, 11:00 - 12:00 and 14:00 - 15:00.
