Horner at Red Bull

NEWS STORY
07/01/2005

Things certainly appear to be happening at Red Bull, where, after just a couple of months, the team is beginning to resemble the early days of Jaguar Racing, with talk of plotting and back-stabbing.

It now appears that having given up on his proposed plan to buy his own F1 team, Arden International boss, could be turning his attention to Red Bull, with some sections of the media claiming that the Englishman is on the verge of being appointed team boss.

This comes as news to current boss Tony Purnell, who denies that any management changes are forthcoming.

Certainly, as previously reported by Pitpass, there are a number of factions each vying for team owner Dietrich Mateschitz' attention.

Former racer, turned F3000 team owner, Helmut Marko is known to be stirring things up for Purnell from Austria, with no little help from BusinessF1, which has published some quite derogatory - and highly personal - comments about Purnell and his management abilities.

Whether Horner is Milton Keynes bound, and whether the in-fighting will continue, remains to be seen. However, one would have thought that the team, and those involved, would have learned from the lessons of the past.

What next, Horner to be replaced by Rahal or Lauda?
