Former Renault driver Jolyon Palmer is to join BBC 5 Live's Formula One commentary team
The 2014 GP2 champion drove for Renault in 2016 and 2017 but was dropped in favour of Carlos Sainz after the Japanese Grand Prix having failed to make his mark in his preceding 35 outings.
"It's going to be great joining them in the commentary team and to get to ask the questions myself," enthused Palmer.
"I'm fascinated to see how the inter-team rivalry plays out," he adds, "and hope I'll be able to bring my own knowledge of the personalities involved to shed further light on the relationships."
It would be somewhat cruel to add further comment.
