As if it hasn't got enough on its mind what with the need to replace Nico Rosberg, according to sections of the Italian media the German team will soon need a new Executive Director (Technical).
It claimed that Paddy Lowe, who joined McLaren from Williams in 1993, is heading back to Woking after a highly successful few years with Mercedes.
Not so, insist McLaren, a team spokesman telling Pitpass: "We in have absolutely no plans to rehire Paddy, since we are entirely satisfied with our current senior engineering management team."
Having risen through the ranks at Woking, Lowe was appointed Technical Director in 2011, moving to Brackley in mid-2013 in time for the introduction of the new formula in 2014 which Mercedes has almost totally dominated.
