Mercedes pit box moved

NEWS STORY

Mercedes has had its pit box moved after both drivers suffered bottoming as they entered their pit slot.

The addition of an eleventh team this year means that all the pit boxes were moved further towards the infamous pit entry at Interlagos, and presented a whole new issue for Mercedes.

Over the course of yesterday's practice sessions both drivers complained that a bump just ahead of their pit box was causing them to bottom out.

Following talks with Mercedes technical director Paddy Lowe, Charlie Whiting approached rival teams and a compromised was reached overnight.

With Ferrari moving its pit box by four metres, Williams three and Red Bull two, Mercedes was able to move the desired amount that would mean its drivers would have smoother access.

Peace in our time.
