Mercedes-AMG is developing a road going car that will incorporate its F1 hybrid technology.

The German manufacturer revealed the news at the Paris Auto Show at the unveiling of its AMG GT C Roadster.

"What would you do if you were looking for an AMG that has to redefine efficiency and performance?" teased Mercedes R&D chief Thomas Weber.

"Tonight, I am happy to confirm that we are going to create an AMG performance hybrid featuring our Formula 1 drivetrain technology," he continued. "It will be the most efficient and, at the same time, the best-performing and most spectacular AMG of all time. Some may even call it a hypercar."

While he was giving little else away, an accompanying 'artist's impression' only added to the excitement, what with its echoes of the fabulous 300SL of the 50s, aerodynamic fin and roof scoop.

Wonder if a third title with Mercedes will earn Lewis Hamilton one of the fabulous machines.
