Romain Grosjean has taken a 5-place grid penalty after his team changed his gearbox.

The Frenchman spun off into the gravel at Ascari early in this morning's session thereby causing the Virtual Safety Car to be deployed.

When the car finally arrived back at the pits, Grosjean having missed the remainder of the session, his initial claim that the spin was the result of a gearbox issue was confirmed, thus necessitating a new unit.

As this was before 6 consecutive events had expired, a breach of Article 23.6 a) of the sporting regulations, the Haas driver takes a 5-place hit.
