Kevin Magnussen has been given the all-clear to contest this weekend's Italian Grand Prix at Monza.

The Dane had to undergo an FIA fitness check at the circuit this morning after suffering a cut and bruising to his ankle in his high-speed crash at Spa-Francorchamps last week.

Despite the Dane's assurances that he would be fit to race, he had to undergo this morning's mandatory test which included ensuring that he could extricate himself from his cockpit within the specified time.

Renault revealed the news on social media, tweeting: "A word from Kev (well, a hand gesture really but you know what we mean): all clear to race".

His car wasn't so fortunate however, and having written off that particular chassis Magnussen will use a spare this weekend, while a third car for he and teammate Jolyon palmer will be built from spare parts the team has brought to Italy.
