New kerbs at Hockenheim

First it was the Red Bull Ring, then it was Silverstone, and subsequently Hungary.

The FIA is tightening up on drivers who exceed the track limits, and whilst nobody has gone quite as far as organisers in Austria, who placed new kerbing at all bar one corner, in Hungary two corners had sensors fitted that alerted the world and his dog when drivers ran wide in the hope of gaining an advantage.

The crackdown continues in Germany this weekend where a wide kerb has been laid between the two sections of green-painted concrete on the left between Turns One and Two.

Furthermore 50mm domed kerbs have been installed behind the existing kerbs on the exits of Turns Six and 11, whilst the kerb on the exit of Turn 12 has been replaced by a double negative kerb and the remaining area formerly laid with artificial grass has been laid with concrete.

Although there is no mention of sensors at this time, one cannot help but feel that the FIA will be leaving nothing to chance.
