Its cars jingoistic red, white and blue livery detracting from the obvious lack of sponsors decals, Manor has announced the appointment of Simon Pavitt as Marketing Director.

Pavitt, who has over 15 years' sports marketing experience, joins the team to oversee all commercial and marketing activities.

"Simon is an exciting addition to the team," said team owner Stephen Fitzpatrick, "bringing strong commercial acumen and a track record of building innovative partnership platforms. We look forward to empowering Simon to create a competitive advantage over our rivals through our marketing."

Pavitt, who spent the past six years at Fuse Sport + Entertainment, advised ten of the top 30 global brands on partnerships strategy and was involved in a multitude of different sponsorships, said he was excited to be joining Manor at a time when the team has had a number of new senior racing appointments and is gaining momentum.

"It's a fantastic opportunity to bring to life the team's unique personality. It has a start-up feel with an upstart mentality. The team is free from corporate shackles, agile in set up and has the ability to make quick bold decisions in order to be modern day F1 ‘Garagistas'. I am inheriting an enviable existing stable of partners that are hungry to do ground-breaking activation and we have a compelling story of the team's progress to tell.

"Having spent time with Stephen, it was clear we share a love for challenging the status quo and the thrill of fighting against the established order. It's going to be a lot of fun making the team stand out as a fast company and a truly progressive rights holder within one of the world's biggest and most passionate of sports."
