NEWS STORY

The season opener at the Australian Grand Prix started with mixed weather conditions in both practice sessions. The track conditions were mostly difficult with occasional rain. The Sauber F1 Team was able to make installation checks on Marcus Ericsson's and Felipe Nasr's Sauber C35-Ferrari in the first practice session. In the afternoon the Swiss team decided not to run as dry conditions are expected for qualifying and the race.

Marcus Ericsson: "That was obviously not the best start to the new season, but we have no control when it comes to the weather. At least we were able to run some laps in the morning to get a good feel that everything works well on the car side. In FP2 we decided not to go out because of the rain and the strong wind. We are looking forward to the rest of the weekend and we will see what tomorrow brings."

Felipe Nasr: "It was not the Friday we were hoping for. In FP1 we were able to do some installation checks on the car. It will be important to be as productive as possible tomorrow as we have to put more mileage on the car. I am confident that the conditions will improve throughout the weekend."
