Sauber has become the latest team to pass the FIA's mandatory crash test.

The Swiss team, which will not run the 2016 car - the C35 - at the opening test in Barcelona, which gets underway in two weeks, revealed the news on social media.

"YAY! The #SauberC35 did it! Nose & chassis passed the static & dynamic crash tests!" declared the Hinwil outfit.

Last month the team revealed that it will run its 2015 car at the opening test, albeit with a 2016 livery, the C35 scheduled to make its track debut a week later.

Sauber follows Haas, Renault, Ferrari, Toro Rosso and Mercedes in passing the mandatory tests which now have to be taken before the car can take part in pre-season testing. Until a couple of years ago, the cars only had to pass the tests before the first race of the season.
