Thanks, but no thanks

Honda Motorsport boss Yasuhisa Arai admits that, despite media speculation, there have been no requests from teams regarding an engine supply in 2016.

Previously, both Toro Rosso and Manor were linked with the Japanese manufacturer, but whilst the British team has settled for Mercedes units, its Faenza rival is still without a confirmed supplier.

At one time teams would have been falling over themselves to get their hands on the Japanese engines, and there was disappointment when Honda first revealed that it would supply McLaren exclusively in the first two years of its return.

However, following a torrid return to F1, and no realistic end to its problems in sight, there are clearly no takers for Richie PU22 or Fin PU14 and the rest.

"We don't have any offers right now and I think that, for Honda and for other power unit suppliers, it's a very difficult time to prepare to supply other partners," Arai told Sky Sports F1.

"Also, Honda has a strong relationship as a works team, McLaren-Honda, and we don't have any plans."
