Mercedes F1 non-executive chairman Niki Lauda has rubbished reports of Mercedes providing engines for Red Bull.

Autocar claims that a deal could see the German manufacturer, which currently provides engines for three teams, as well as its own, supply engines to Red Bull also, albeit badged as Aston Martin.

A load of rubbish," Lauda told Reuters ahead of today's British Grand Prix. "We have not been asked, we never thought about it. That's it."

Whilst Red Bull owner Dietrich Mateschitz has threatened to walk away from F1, even though he is contracted to remain until 2020, his public criticism of partner Renault has led to the French manufacturer making its own quit threats.
