Wealth intelligence company reveals richest F1 drivers

Wealth-X has released its list of the top 10 richest Formula One drivers of all time.

According to the company, which is the "global authority on wealth intelligence, providing sales, marketing, strategy and compliance solutions to clients in the financial services, luxury, not-for-profit and education sectors", the richest F1 driver of all time is Michael Schumacher who has an estimated net worth of US$780 million.

According to the list, Schumacher's wealth represents 43% of the combined net worth of all ten men on the list, four of whom have retired from the sport.

World champion Lewis Hamilton - who opened his title defence with a convincing victory at the weekend - came in fifth place on the list with a personal fortune of US$110 million.

Mercedes teammate Nico Rosberg, who finished runner-up in last year's standings as well as in the Australian Grand Prix, took 10th place on the list with US$30 million in assets.

The youngest driver on the list is 27-year-old Sebastien Vettel, who has a net worth of US$45 million, while the oldest is 60-year-old retired Frenchman Alain Prost, who has amassed a personal fortune of US$70 million.
